We ventured from our tropical oasis in Kewarra to board the Ocean Spirit and attempt to see the wonderous coral reef. The trip out to McCulloch Reef was a little over 2 hours. Ethan and Andy, of course, had to explore the boat and eat morning tea. I went snorkeling, for the first time, while the boys stayed on the little beach. Ethan loved the beach due to the little waves breaking on the cay. He laid in them and ran around, while Andy sat like a little old man on the beach watching everyone. He liked the many terns on the island, but did not get too close. There was a rope between the human part and the bird part of the beach and the birds took over their part. I went snorkeling with the tropical fish and coral everywhere. The coral is not as bright as in pictures, because the light is limited below the surface. Everything looks murky and kind of gray, but still magnificent. After a yummy lunch, we went on a semi-submersible, which is like a half sub and half boat and we were on the sub part. We were able to see the coral, a sea turtle, Nemo and lots of fish and coral. The boat made it’s way back to the harbor, which happened to be into the wind. The front part of the boat was closed due to wind and spray. But we made it back just fine in fact Roo took a nap most of the way back.

Super jealous! This looks like tons of fun. I’m glad y’all are making the most of your time down under. By the way, isn’t it supposed to be winter right now? This sure looks like summer fun to me.
